I think this might be my favorite back-to-school craft I’ve made in a long time. 💕 I wanted to create a goal-setting activity that was more meaningful than another worksheet—something students would be excited to make, proud to display, and actually remember. Each student creates their OWN pencil paper chain by writing their own academic, friendship, and personal goals on every colorful link. As they build their pencil, they’re reflecting on what they want to learn, how they want to grow, and the kind of classmate they want to be this year. By the end of the activity, you’ll have a classroom full of one-of-a-kind goal-setting pencils that make the sweetest bulletin board, hallway display, or classroom window for Meet the Teacher Night and Open House.
