Interactive Alphabet Books

We are spending the first month of school reviewing and learning our letters and sounds. Research has long supported that “letter of the week” is not beneficial to students when learning their letters and sounds. Phonics is best absorbed when it is taught in context through reading, writing, and hands on activity. However, it is important for students to be exposed to all of the letters and sounds as they begin learning through application. I love using hands on centers and interactive activities when quickly teaching letters at the beginning of the year. These interactive books get students involved in learning the letters of the alphabet in fun quick ways while providing multiple forms of practice. They will also begin reading and tracking while applying their new letter knowledge as they learn to read.
