HOW DO YOU ACTUALLY TEACH LETTERS? 👀🔤 Ask teacher HOW DO YOU ACTUALLY TEACH LETTERS? 👀🔤 Ask teachers what order you should teach the alphabet in and you can start a DEBATE. 😂 Alphabetical order? Letters in their names first? High-frequency letters? Follow your phonics curriculum? And yes—having an intentional scope + sequence matters. But here’s something I think we sometimes miss while we’re arguing about the ORDER: Kids need CONNECTION. Because knowing that this is B and B says /b/ isn’t the end goal. We want their brains making connections everywhere. 🐝 B is for bee. 👀 I can recognize B and b. 👂 I can hear /b/ in words. 🔎 I can find B among other letters. 🗣️ I can say words that begin with /b/. ✏️ I can form B and b. 📖 I can see B inside actual reading. 🧩 I can manipulate, match, build and USE it. Same letter. Over and over. Different contexts. Different modalities. Stronger connections. THAT is exactly why I created this alphabet unit the way I did.
